The Oaks Driving Club

The Oaks Driving Club was formed in 1976 by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to provide the opportunity for carriage drivers to meet and show their turnouts locally. We cover the East Sussex area.

No matter what you drive, how little or much experience you have, even if you don't drive, you can be assured of a warm welcome at The Oaks Driving Club.

AGM

Hello

Please see the Agenda on the 'Events' page for the Oaks AGM next Sunday evening at Broadoak Village Hall, 7pm. I hope you will all attend. This year we will be awarding points championship rosettes for novice, intermediate, open pony and horse, plus multiples along with our usual trophies. If you have not yet returned last years trophy to Jan, please do so ASAP. Margaret has kindly made a cake to raffle and we will enjoy refreshments after the business side is completed.

March Indoor Event

Entries are coming in for the indoor competition in March, don’t be late and miss out. If you wish to compete in the Keysoe class using the championship test, please let me know. This class will the last to run and will not be split (unless big entries) so do make sure you have adequate help.

See you all next Sunday

Please see the first newsletter for 2020 on the 'News' page. A bit thin as we haven’t had many events yet!

Please would all of you that are British Carriagedriving members please email Jan Curd with some urgency - jan.curd@yahoo.co.uk and let her know your BC membership number.

In an attempt to encourage new members, particularly juniors, we are holding a ‘have a go’ day for Priory Court Riding Stables on Saturday 22nd February. Claire Cousens and her sister Therese have 24 of their clients who have expressed an interest in driving. Moira, Andrea and Kevin are kindly going to take their horses and ponies and demonstrate harnessing up and let people experience driving for the first time.

As our AGM looms near, please return any trophies you won last year to Jan, it will save her hours of work chasing them up (always a tiresome task). Do support the AGM - we have lots of trophies and rosettes to be won, including points champions.

 Best wishes

Online Entries and Membership

Hello everyone

Please see schedule for the Oaks Indoor event in March on 'Events' page.

We are now up and running with online entries www.ihdt.co.uk/oaks.html thanks to the help of Mike Watts. Online entries are the preferred way to enter but of course we will still accept cheques and cash. Only people who have already paid their Oaks membership for 2020 are able to enter with the discounted entry fee but you can join at the same time as doing your electronic entry - simples! Or you can just join the club online and enter at a later date. When you have entered online you will be sent an email confirming your entry. For those of you who compete ICD it is a very similar system.

I hope it will make things easier for you all plus save time and paper.
