The Oaks Driving Club - About Us

The Oaks Driving Club was formed in 1976 by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to provide the opportunity for carriage drivers to meet and show their turnouts locally. We cover the East Sussex area.

Since our inception the number and type of activities arranged by the Club has grown, and members compete all over the country.

Members Include The British Driving Society, National Judges, and National Driving Trials competitors as well as course builders, carriage builders and we welcome all types of equines and their drivers old and young alike.

Having fun is an important part of being an Oaks member, but safety is a priority at all events organised by the Club.

We try to include something for everyone and vary the types of activities such as One Day Events, Indoor/Outs, Training Days, World Cup and LeTrec style as well as the Gateway competition. We pride ourselves in being inclusive and encourage, when possible, to cater for our local driving for disabled groups.

For those without their own "outfits", we can always find useful tasks at events such as time keeping, obstacle building, score keeping and general stewarding.

No matter what you drive, how little or much experience you have, even if you don't drive, you can be assured of a warm welcome at the Oaks Driving Club. Take a look at the Events Calendar to see what is happening next.
