Xmas Team Event
I.H.D.T Christmas Team Event, Golden Cross
On 29th December the Oaks fielded a team for the World Cup style competition at Golden Cross. The team consisted of Susanne Willis, Tim Whimhurst and Bob Cox. Unfortunately Bob had to pull out due to ill health so Susanne and Tim drove extra rounds to make up the 9 rounds required per team. Both drivers put up good rounds, though Susanne had a ‘wardrobe malfunction’ when the beard of her Santa’s outfit blew up over her face which made navigation near impossible.
Tinsel and fancy dress was to the fore. Jane Parsons pulled out all the stops with her pony, Ben and her husband, Stuart wore his favourite pink tutu and blond wig. Jane was driving in Sheila’s Wheels team along with Sheila Petitpierre and Liz Howe.
We were lucky to have the services of a video company who were filming the whole event, several drivers seized the opportunity to purchase dvd’s of their rounds - an invaluable training aid. Jenny Longley set the trend and wore a camera strapped to her chest to record her round - her backstepper Tony Green hoped it didn’t become dislodged and fly over her head knocking him out, luckily all went well.
A really fun day and terrific competition, the eventual winners the Three Wise Elves led by Tina Graham who recorded the fastest round of the day of 88.41 seconds.
